About Heater Verdict
Heater Verdict is an independent diagnostic resource for water heater owners water heater age, repair vs. replace, tank vs. tankless, sizing, and maintenance. We build diagnostic tools and calculators and guides that answer one question well: what's the right decision for your water heater, and what will it roughly cost?
How our numbers work
Every calculator runs on manufacturer specifications and standard industry ranges, the same data used by plumbers and replacement estimators. Each formula is checked by hand against known examples before it ships. Prices on this site are always shown as ranges with an “as of” date, because material and labor prices vary by region and season. We never publish a made-up statistic.
What we are not
We are not a plumber, a manufacturer, or a service provider. Our numbers are informational estimates, not repair quotes or installation guarantees. For any safety-critical or code-related issues, consult a licensed plumber before you attempt repairs or replacement.
Corrections
If a number on this site looks wrong, we want to know. Email [email protected] and we will check it against our sources and fix it quickly. Getting the math right is the whole point of this site.
